WIDTH: Measure the width of the window opening in 3 places (top, middle, and bottom). Take the smallest of the 3 measurements (rounded to the nearest 1/8 inch) and write it down. This is the width you will order. Do not make any deductions! The factory will make any necessary deductions.
HEIGHT: Measure the window opening height in 3 places (left, middle, right) but this time take the largest measurement (rounded to the nearest 1/8 inch). This is the height you will order. The factory will make no deductions or additions to the length measurement. NOTE: THIS DOES NOT APPLY TO VERTICAL BLINDS. FOR VERTICAL BLINDS, IT WOULD BE THE SMALLEST.
Outside Mount:
WIDTH: Measure the width of the window opening from left to right and add 4"to 6" for maximum light gap coverage and privacy. If the shade is to be mounted to trim or framing around the window measure from the trim's outside edge left to right. Once you determine the desired width (rounded to the nearest 1/8 inch) write it down.
HEIGHT: To determine the height measure the window opening from top to bottom and add 2" to 4" inches to this measurement to allow space for mounting brackets above the opening.

How To Clean my Blinds?
How To Clean my Blinds?
Caring for your window coverings does not have to be frustrating. Wipe off the dust periodically in order to avoid the dust being built up and later staining your blinds. Never use abrasive cleaners or excessive water.
Here are some other ideas:
How to Clean Wood Blinds
- Excessive water on wood blinds can cause the wood blinds to warp and possibly discolor.
- Wipe them with a duster or soft cloth. A vacuum with the brush attachment can also be used gently.
- Use a damp rag for stain removal, but make sure you dry the blinds immediately.
For Decorative Cloth Tapes
- Test a small area of the cloth tape prior to attempting any cleaning.
- Fabric cleaning wipes can be used with most fabric tapes. You can also use a damp soft cloth that does not discolor or leaves residue.
How to Clean Honeycomb Cell Shades
- Gently vacuum the shades often in order to remove dust using the brush attachment.
- Use a damp cloth that does not discolor or leave a residue for stain removal. You can also use a mild soap, but make sure you test a small area first. Do not rub with force since the material on the shade can be easily damaged.
How to Clean your Comfortex Blinds
- A feather duster is perfect for your Comfortex blinds. Clean them periodically to avoid any dust being built up. You can also gently use a vacuum with brush attachment to clean them periodically.
- For stain removal, you can use a mild soap cleaner and wipe them gently. Allow the shades to air dry completely.
- Do not use any abrasive cleaners on the silver side of the shade.
Recommended Cleaning Methods
- Dusting. Regular light dusting maintains a like-new appearance of most blinds, shades, shadings, sheers, shutters and window panels.• Vacuuming. For deeper cleaning, vacuum gently with a brush attachment of any vacuumcleaner. Most products may be vacuumed usinga vertical stroke; however, do not use a brush attachment with Luminette® or Park Lane® Privacy Sheers.• Compressed air or hair dryer (non-heatsetting). Use to blow dust off selected window coverings.
- Spot-cleaning. Spot-clean shades and blinds with soft cloth or sponge moistened with lukewarm water. Add mild detergent if needed.Blot gently to avoid creasing or damaging the fabric. Rubbing can damage fabrics. Spotcleaning may result in cleaner areas.
- Use cool, distilled water when spot-cleaning fabric-covered headrails on window shadings.
- Aluminum blinds. Use an over-the-counter blind cleaner with a soft cloth.
- Vinyl and aluminum vertical blinds. Reduce build-up of static electricity by applying a very thin film of detergent on all vanes.
- Bathtub cleaning/water immersion for aluminum blinds and most, but not all, honeycomb fabrics.
- Immerse entire shade assembly in lukewarm water with mild detergent. Wash for five minutes by gently moving liquid around with your fingers. Not recommended for blinds with cotton or decorative tapes.I mportant! Do not immerse headrails on luminette and window shadings, and Roman Shades.2. Rinse with clear water.3. Close shade before removing from rinse water.4. Hold rails and tilt the shade to allow excess water to drain off.5. Re-install damp shade into window opening.6. Lower shade all the way to allow it to dry completely. Note: Honeycomb shades should be dried in the fully lowered position.Refer to the charts on the following pages for products not recommended for bathtub cleaning. Certain honeycomb fabrics should not be immersedin water. Ultrasonic cleaning. Professional ultrasonic cleaning is recommended for several products. Do not use this method for: wood blinds, and wood cornices, motorized systems,or metallized-backed shades.• Injection/extraction cleaning system. This type of cleaning injects a cleaning solution into the fabric and extracts the dirty solution in the same motion. It is a very effective way to deep clean your window treatments. The service is typically performed in the home so there is no need to remove the window treatments. Products that can use this method include any soft, fabric-based Hunter Douglas product including Luminette and Privacy Sheers, Silhouette window shadings, Roman Shades and honeycomb shades.* Dry method is recommended for certain fabrics. Important! Do not clean fabriccovered headrails or fabric-covered valances. Steaming. Steaming can be done to remove wrinkles from some fabrics. A. Dusting Spot-Cleaning Vacuuming Steaming ***Faux Wood or Vinyl Produc ts To reduce static cling and help repel dust, wipe the product with dryer sheets. Do not use abrasive cleaners or chemical solvents, as they will scratch or damage the surface. Allow blinds in the Wood blinds to air dry to preserve the dust repellent properties of the slats. Clean polysatin shutters with mild soap and water. Do not use ammonia-based products.Wood or Hybrid Products Clean using a dry and soft feather duster, clean cloth, dust cloth or dusting mitt. A vacuum with the soft brush attachment can also be used. Ultrasonic cleaning or use of chemical solvents and scrubbing cleansers are not recommended. They will damage the product. Protect all fine wood products from exposure to steam or high moisture areas, rain or outside irrigation systems to ensure their long life. When cleaning any window, spray glass cleaner on a cloth rather than spraying directly on the window. This will prevent damage to the wood finish by splattering cleaner. Cloth Tapes Spot-cleaning with fabric cleaning wipes found at your grocery store is recommended for all tapes. These will typically not leave a stain or discolor the tapes. We suggest a cleaning test on the underneath side of the blind where the tape wraps around the bottom rail where any stain would be the least visible. 100% polyester tapes can be spot-cleaned with cool distilled water using a clean white cloth. Support the tape from behind using another clean cloth that is dry. Use a gentle blotting action to clean the spot or soiled area. Rinse by blotting with clean distilled water. Let air dry. A gentle detergent can also be used on the 100% polyester trims. Spot-cleaning may result in cleaner areas.
